Instagram post 17898949186398241 Lets talk about oil!⠀
⠀
There’s only one way to really benefit from an oil and that is to use oil for the final step of your skin-care routine. ⠀
⠀
If you apply oil first, any moisturiser that follows won’t be able to fully penetrate the oil barrier; it’s like applying lotion over a wet suit.⠀
⠀
Remember, oils are only the gatekeepers, not producers, of hydration, so load up on humectants first, and then pile on the oil afterward to keep moisture from escaping.

Instagram post 18080878690142792 Sunday self-care ritual.

My turn for some facial cupping with @natural_beauty_by_inna

Gently, manually sucking up sections of the face improves skin circulation, encourages lymph drainage, tones tissue that is flaccid, and relaxes tightness.
It increases the diffusion and receptivity of skin cell nutrients, stimulates collagen and elastin, and restores new skin tissue.

It is recommended to have a series of 6 to 12 weekly sessions for results to really stick but it is a great thing to do before a party because it gives you that lifted and toned look.
You can do this yourself but it is is difficult to achieve deep relaxation, a trained practitioner like myself or Inna is ideal.

⠀
Do you have any honey in your kitchen cupboard? it is great for emergencies if you have run out of your face mask. ⠀
Raw honey is antibacterial and very healing, honey doesn’t dry the skin or clog the pores.⠀
I recommend applying it as a mask for a minimum of 10 minutes. Let me know how your skin feels.

Instagram post 17933761348320778 Mushroom time!⠀
⠀
I know a lot of you will glaze over at the thought of mushrooms but I will not stop singing their praises! Mushrooms are full of anti-ageing properties! ⠀
⠀
You may have seen a lot of fungi popping up recently, now is a great time to go foraging if you know what you are looking for. ⠀
I do it the easy way and take my mushrooms in an extract powder and drink as a herbal tea or add to my smoothies.⠀
You can add Reishi & Chaga to your skin directly, making it into a face mask. Take 1 teaspoon of extract powder and mix with filtered water, rose water, or your favourite face oil. Leave on for 15 minutes and rinse off, sit back and admire your new healthy glow. ⠀
⠀
There’s a reason mushrooms are called magic, but it is not just for their psychedelic powers. Reishi is naturally anti-ageing and packed full of anti-oxidants. ⠀
⠀
Reishi mushroom extract contains a high content of polysaccharides, that support healthy blood pressure and blood sugar, encourage a positive mood, support immune function but is also imperative for skin repair and renewal. ⠀
⠀
Reishi & Chaga help reduce skin inflammation, puffiness, wrinkles and free radical damage, while promoting cell regeneration.⠀
⠀
That is a lot of superpowers!⠀
⠀
As some of you know, I do work with @hybridherbs but I do not get paid to post, I just love to tell people about them because the business only has 4 people in it and they are the most ethical business owners I know.

Well, I’m sure you all know by now that I’m a huge mushroom fan. I’ve been working with @hybridherbs medicinal mushrooms for 4 years. The feedback I hear on how they change people’s health for the better, always astounds me. ⠀
⠀
I was REALLY excited when @cecilybraden gave us our set of clear quartz mushrooms in our training. ⠀
⠀
Using clear Quartz Mushrooms awakens the skin and drains excess fluid. ⠀
⠀
Using these tools helps to reduce inflammation by cooling the skin and restores you to your natural radiant self. ⠀

Instagram post 18064932343162399 I had such terrible acne, from a teenager all the way up into my late 20’s, I tried everything to fix it. During that time, I started to intuitively know what would be good for my skin, I could touch and smell a product and know whether it would be beneficial for me or not. ⠀
The first most powerful product for me was Dr Hauschka, I remember using the rose face mask, I used to sleep with it on my skin and the next day my inflammation would go down. I then began using natural remedies and very quickly my skin started healing.⠀
⠀
I have always had regular facials but when I moved to a natural skincare line, I couldn’t find a therapist who used natural products, they would tell me they were natural but me being me would check the ingredient list – usually I found parabens, artificial fragrance and sometimes mineral oils. EVERYTHING MY SKIN HATES! ⠀
⠀
So, I then began my training in becoming a Holistic Facialist or my preferred word used in the States, Aesthetician. I saw a gap in the market and ever since I have been learning from some of the greatest teachers, I still have so much to learn but that is why I love what I do, this work will never get boring and I will continue in my self development. ⠀
⠀
Believing in myself and putting in a lot of energy, time and training to do something that will make others feel good and in doing so, it makes me feel good.

Instagram post 18032412040222806 I am very interested in TCM, it is a therapy that supports me a lot in my health and if I could, I would go everyday!⠀
When my clients come to me with acne, I always ask what stress they are under. I know from personal experience that my acne was triggered by extreme emotions and not being able to process them. ⠀
⠀
If you have acne then there are many factors to consider and we can discuss these in a consultation. ⠀
⠀
“In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), acne is considered a disease primarily related to the Pathogenic Influence of Heat and Damp Heat on the meridians, Zang Fu, and Fundamental Substances. This Heat may be a product of poor diet, stress, overwork, or the natural ascendance of Yang energy, which is typical in adolescence.⠀
⠀
The major signs and symptoms of the common Heat Patterns of Disharmony, differentiated by location on the body, are as follows:⠀
⠀
Lung Heat: Symptoms include acne with a predominance of lesions on the forehead and near the nose. There may be slight itching as well. The patient may have an aversion to heat and feel thirsty. ⠀
⠀
Stomach Heat: Symptoms include acne with a predominance of lesions around the mouth and on the chest, shoulders, and back. The patient may have have a large appetite and thirst; and prefer greasy, spicy foods.⠀
⠀
Toxic Heat: Symptoms include severe acne, strongly inflamed with pus-filled nodules and much reddening of the skin around the lesions. The patient may have an aversion to heat as well and may complain of malaise. ⠀
⠀
Damp Heat: Symptoms include acne composed of deep, pus-filled, inflamed nodules. The skin usually is oily, and the patient may have an aversion to heat. He or she may be thirsty but have no desire to take fluids.”

This Principle embodies the truth that "everything is in motion"; "everything vibrates"; "nothing is at rest"; facts which Modern Science endorses, and which each new scientific discovery tends to verify. And yet this Hermetic Principle was enunciated thousands of years ago, by the Masters of Ancient Egypt. This Principle explains that the differences between different manifestations of Matter, Energy, Mind, and even Spirit, result largely from varying rates of Vibration. From THE ALL, which is Pure Spirit, down to the grossest form of Matter, all is in vibration — the higher the vibration, the higher the position in the scale. ⠀

Instagram post 18103099327049862 Here are some of my holiday skincare essentials. Tropic do a very cute travel size, I took the vitamin toner and super-greens! And of course my new Gua Sha by Cecily Braden.
This Vitamin Toner🌹 instantly balances the pH of your face, reduces redness, brightens, and it hydrates!
Made naturally with organic aloe vera juice, vitamin c, rose water, cucumber juice, and cranberry seed extract.

Super greens oil 🍃

Think this oil has won over 40 beauty awards or something! A nutrient boosting serum but I call it an oil.. to me serums are not oily. It is made from green superfoods, chlorophyll, kale and maca root extracts, which deliver essential vitamins and minerals to the deeper levels of your skin, as well as improving skin health.

These are joined by African marula and kendi oils, to help calm redness and skin irritation, while tamanu oils help with skin repair and blemishes and if that wasn’t enough it is all topped off with green coffee extract, which helps brighten your complexion and energise the skin.

Good for all skin types but if you’re acne prone then use once a week at night.

Instagram post 17875614805442939 I love crystals and was fascinated by them from an early age, like most kids are! I even went to a crystal cave at 8 years old and will always remember how beautiful it was. 💎⠀
⠀
But, I have become very aware that this has now become another trend. Another form of western overconsumption dressed up as spiritual. ⠀
⠀
I saw a huge selection of crystals in TKMax and I think they have them in Primark. These big companies don’t give a 💩 about where they are sourced, they just want to stay on trend. ⠀
⠀
Gosh! Is anyone else just feeling really fed up with it all? I bought some of those crystals in TKMax I felt I needed to rescue them.⠀
⠀
People are being taken advantage of by mining crystals, they don’t get paid properly most of the time, crystals are sharp and some are mined by hand which is dangerous. ⠀
⠀
We take so much from the earth 🌍 when I use my crystals I try to make sure I’m giving something back. I use them to aid in my clients relaxation and healing..⠀
⠀
So, instead of wearing lots of crystals and not appreciating their value! We can just sit on the Earth and tune into its rhythm! ⠀
⠀
That will give you a similar feeling & won’t harm our mineral kingdom.

Instagram post 17865741787482887 The latest craze of drinking celery juice every morning got me thinking..I have tried it myself and loved the taste and how hydrated it made me feel, but, I also heard a lot of negative comments, things like bloating, nausea, dizziness etc.⠀
Over the past year, I have seen an increase with pigmentation, hormone imbalance and sun damage are the main causes but could all that celery juice be making it worse?⠀
⠀
A few days ago this article dropped in my inbox by Kyle Vialli⠀
⠀
"Celery contains a natural toxin called psoralen that can cause the skin to be photosensitive, or put another way, more sensitive to the effects of UV radiation. This can be especially problematic for folks who “burn easily”; i.e. those who have not activated their tanning dermal-defense mechanisms. ⠀
The juicing of celery is precisely the type of situation that could potentially lead to a toxic psoralen situation. Indeed, it has become somewhat of a trend in recent years (especially on Instagram) for people to do just that. ⠀
⠀
Exclusively juicing celery or using celery as a dominant ingredient in your juices is something that I have cautioned clients against for some years now. Sensitive clients had experienced some or all of the following after their regular juice: drowsiness, bloating, headaches that seemed to get worse in the sun, and quicker burning to bare skin. ⠀
The worse case I saw was in a client who was doing upwards of 5 bunches a day in what is known as juice feasting. When celery was restricted the symptoms went away. My general advice would be to limit celery juicing to 8 stalks a day, intermixed with other juice ingredients. For those specifically wanting to do a pure celery juice protocol, the best time to do so, is in the evening as psoralens tend to break-down after 8 hours within the body, so by morning time, the phototoxic effect brought on by daytime UV is phased down to a minimum"

Instagram post 17849870068582601 The sun has a bad reputation when it comes to skin and premature aging but the sun is also one of the best ways to increase our vitamin D levels. ⠀
⠀
Apparently 1 in 5 of us are deficient in vitamin D and the NHS recommends we supplement daily. ⠀
⠀
An easy way to make vitamin D is while the sun shines, have 10-15 minutes of sun exposure a day without sunscreen 🌞⠀
⠀
Being deficient in vitamin d can have an affect on immunity, bone health, and organ function. Our internal health directly affects skin health. ⠀
⠀
BUT do not stay out in the sun too long... If you feel your skin turning pink or getting hot, cover up, get in the shade or apply a mineral based SPF.

⠀
While we sleep 💤 our skin wakes up! ⠀
It goes through a process of cell division, known as mitosis, this is when your skin needs the most nutrients. ⠀
⠀
Sleep time is when our body repairs and renews and is essential for healthy skin.⠀
⠀
So, by applying your most active products at night, your are feeding your skin! This is a great time to add skin foods like oils. ⠀
⠀
When sleep patterns are disturbed, this process is affected and it can lead to lacklustre, tired skin.⠀
⠀
Do you get 8 hours a night? What are your tips for a good nights sleep? 😴 ⠀
⠀
I have struggled with sleeping on and off a lot in the past. ⠀
⠀
I’m careful to not have any caffeine after 11am (green tea is fine though) I wear blue light blocking glasses if I watch tv, I have a cup of reishi before bed, and in stressful times I’ll do a sleep hypnosis by Michael Sealey on YouTube, this guy has the most soothing voice!
